Books You Should Read

We interrupt your sporadically scheduled short fiction to bring you this brief message. If you are looking for something to read that does not have "the" "hunger" or "games" in the title, then here are two things that I've read recently that you might enjoy. Enjoy!
Basic Training - Kurt Vonnegut

Do I really need to explain to you why you need to read Vonnegut? By now, you've likely already formed an opinion on him. And if you haven't, go read Breakfast of Champions right now. What are you still doing here? Go! For those of you left, here's a new book of Vonnegut's that someone found in the archives. You should read it. And considering this, maybe you have. Get it on your kindle, or whatever.

I Kill Giants - Joe Kelly

 Great Scott! A picture book!
Yes, and a very good one at that. I Kill Giants is an indie comic book published by Image in 2009. The titular giants are, of course, metaphors ... this being an indie book and all, but don't let its lack of non-metaphorical giants stop you from checking it out. This book tells the touching story of somewhat crazy, somewhat irritable, and remarkably likeable Barbara Thorson. She has family issues and a hyper active imagination. She's everything you want in a protagonist. Get it in paperback form, or whatever.
